Accounting & Finance Manager – Mid Atlantic $90,000 plus bonus

Job Summary:

Finance and accounting position in Mid-Atlantic region, responsible for monthly financial close, financial planning and forecasting, and providing financial support to regional leadership team

Reports To:

Senior Director of Finance, Central Region

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1.      Support the regional vice president by a) providing sound solutions/suggestions to support business operations and b) providing timely, accurate, and relevant financial and operating information.

2.      Leading and taking an active role in the monthly financial close process.

3.      Together with the regional vice presidents, maintain and develop the regions short and long term financial plans.

4.       Identify common tasks between regions and standardize or combine processes.

5.      Leads the analysis of the drivers of regional profitability. This analysis is both at a gross margin and SG&A level. It will require raising issues, obtaining support outside the finance group and proposing solutions to operating management. This individual will use the best available information to make sound, timely financial decisions relating to: month end financial close, financial planning and analysis and the financial needs of the regions.

6.      Coordinates the regions reporting requirements including operating reviews with senior management and annual strategic planning requirements.  

7.      Provides monthly, quarterly and annual financial information to regional management.  Includes preparation of monthly financial planning and analysis metrics.

8.      Monitors SOX compliance.

9.      Determines accounting treatments for new products and insures that these determinations are reviewed by corporate technical accounting team.

10.  Provide support of other functional areas such as Sales; Billing and Pricing.

Job Specifications:

Knowledge:

Demonstrated knowledge of basic financial concepts

Demonstrated technical competency and knowledge of accounting principles

Retail electric industry experience, including familiarity with PJM processes (preferred)

Derivative and hedging experience (preferred)

Skills/Abilities:

Exceptional organizational and issue management skills

Professional oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate with senior level commercial and financial leaders

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Demonstrated ability to perform financial analysis and communicate results and recommendations effectively

Education/Experience:

4 yr accounting/finance degree

CPA/MBA preferred

5+ years of relevant accounting/finance experience

Broad exposure to finance, accounting, and business issues
